MuppetVision 3D's Iconic Windows and Awnings Disappear at Hollywood Studios
The beloved MuppetVision 3D theater at Disney's Hollywood Studios has undergone a significant transformation, with its iconic windows and awnings now gone. This change marks a pivotal moment as the theater prepares for a new era, becoming part of the upcoming Monsters, Inc. land.
A Visual Transformation
The once-vibrant purple, blue, and green faux window shutters, which adorned the brick façade, have been carefully removed. Their absence is noticeable through the slight discoloration of the bricks and concrete sills, as well as the absence of the hardware that once held banners. Above the theater's entrance, the green awnings, which displayed wait times and Lightning Lane signs, have also been taken down, leaving a noticeable void.
The marquee, a familiar sight for many Disney fans, was torn down in October, further signaling the end of an era. A comparison image of the facade before the changes provides a stark contrast to the current state.
MuppetVision 3D's Closure and Rebirth
MuppetVision 3D officially closed its doors in June, marking the end of an era for Disney fans. However, this closure is not permanent. The former Muppets Courtyard will be reimagined as Monstropolis from the beloved movie, Monsters, Inc. A thrilling roller-coaster is under construction at the back of the courtyard, taking guests on a journey through the famous door vault. This coaster will be Disney's first suspended and first vertical lift coaster, offering a unique and exciting experience.
The Future of the Theater
According to concept art, the MuppetVision 3D theater will be transformed into 'The Glob.' While Disney has not yet revealed further details about the theater's new purpose, the changes at Hollywood Studios hint at an exciting future for Disney fans.
